Common questions
How much cash do I need to buy a house in Malaysia?
With a 90% loan, plan for the 10% down payment plus roughly 4–6% of the price in stamp duty and legal fees for a Malaysian buyer of a RM2–5M home. Foreign buyers need more because of the 8% stamp duty and lower loan margins.
When are the fees paid?
The earnest deposit on the offer, the balance of the 10% at the SPA, stamp duty and legal fees when the SPA and loan documents are stamped, and the loan releases the rest at completion.
